Help me build my LAN.
#1
So I'm buying a house, and wiring it up with cat6 in every room.

I need to build 2 budget gaming PCs and a file server

Do you think this is a good budget PC build?

I'm half tempted to only include the SSD and just use the fileserver as the media storage.

My budget is about 800 for the gayming PC.

And 1k for the file server, 1.5k if it is a rackmount.

do you really need 16gb for a budget computer tho

im on 8gb for my notbudget computer and I only run out if I have Chrome open while playing the very most ram-heavy videogames I can find, and even then I have other programs in the background running

I alone use 4TB, and I'm adding 2 other people to it.

So probably 8TB, in RAID probably.

So at least 3 drives.

you can get a Synology DS418 with 4 2TB NAS SATA drives from Western Digital for ~$700 on Amazon. use the rest of the money in your budget to get a gaming computer with a card more powerful than a 1050 ti

Might I ask what on earth you're doing
are you playing a new game while having photoshop open in the background, with Chrome having three youtube tabs

because even I do that sometimes and don't run out of RAM

Ya, I run chrome, and have my development shit open, I get the urge to play a game and I don't want to close everything.
