Comprehensive Music Analysis
#1
Someone should do this in their free time. I was going to try to take on the task but it would never get done if we're being real. I think it would be interesting to have an illustration showing how the music taste of our userbase has grown over the years. Obviously this would be the most fun for those of us who have been here longer. I just realized how much my taste has changed looking at spotify and this thought popped in to my head.

This sounds like something you can deduce using last.fm. The problem with that is one would have to use last.fm.

My taste from after I developed my own (eg not just listen what parents listen to):
  • Mix of the fairly popular British bands I heard growing up (Kaiser Chiefs, The Darkness, etc)
  • At around 15 I started listening to exclusively hip-hop/rap (Kanye West, Childish Gambino, Chance the Rapper and Black Hippy members)
  • At 16 I brought contemporary RnB into the mix (mainly The Weeknd)
  • Around 17.5 I grew sick of hip-hop/rnb and started listening to more and more industrial rock
  • At 18 bordering 19 I incorporated more emo/punk and listening to 'edgier' pop artists

childish gambino in the hip hop scene is serially overrated, because the internet really did not meet my expectations

in terms of RnB, thats where childish shines. awaken my love is a good album from 2017; i think childish gambino should stick with that kind of music
